Another nice day with a few clouds but otherwise sunny; no threat of rain. We got up relatively slowly and then went for a walk with Peter and Andrea toward the East end of the beach walk; tons of school-age kids were swarming around, so there must have been an entire school’s field trip at the beach. We had coffee and cake at one of the little cafe at the center and town and then walked down the beach under the cliffs. Mark and Andrea shared his camera and took some very nice photos (including some of us two that are really “what we look like together” in our own minds). Some earlier hikers had made stone-balancing art that was quite amazing. We came home around 4 and also got a few more things from the store for the evening’s barbecue with Uschi and Wolfgang, which was a ton of fun. The barbecue grill worked much better this time, and we had great food and good company, plus amazing “Haff” animal watching behind her house, thanks to Mark’s tele lens. He caught a fox and a hawk of some sort in flight, as well as a deer, and we got to watch the little sea swallows zipping in and out from under the roof. The kids also performed for a very enthusiastic audience–Kati was in her element and everyone was impressed except the next-door neighbor. We walked home about 9 pm with the sun just starting to set, and hung out a bit longer with Imke and Hermann and the pro secco that Andrea and Peter had brought along. But I went to bed between 10 and 11, because it had been a pretty long day, again!
